Ed Sheeran definitely had his crowd “‘singing’ out loud” when he stopped by Amalie Arena to perform with opening acts Jamie Lawson and Christina Perri. Without relying on theatrics and pyrotechnics, Sheeran gave concert goers a night they will never forget. Performing hits off his newest album X (multiply) like “Thinking Out Loud” whose dance inspired music video has more than enough emotion to give you chills.
Sheeran also played songs from his original album + (plus) in addition to a medley of mash-ups using his loop pedal to create musical masterpieces those in attendance will never forget. Sheeran’s personalization to each of his shows makes audience members feel special and as if they are part of the show itself. And in some ways we were, whether it was through his calls for us to clap along with and sing verses of his most popular songs or Sheeran publicly expressing his joy after his show in Tampa.
It’s the smaller things that Sheeran focuses on in his shows that make them worthwhile. He has a passion for music and put on one of the best concerts I have ever been to.
Amalie Arena hosting Sheeran made this all possible. While they are more well know for being the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, they also give music lovers or those looking for a spontaneous trip the chance to come together with some of their favorite artists. It’s great to see that there is more to downtown Tampa than just its beautiful scenery. For more concerts this year and directions to Amalie Arena check out their website!
